The communication gap

Owners should not have to chase the workshop for progress

“What has changed since my last visit — and are we still on the agreed path?”

A serious restoration can span months, many specialists, and discoveries that only appear after disassembly. When progress lives across inboxes and chat threads, exceptional craftsmanship can still feel invisible.

Repeated “any news?” calls interrupt project leads and pull specialists away from the car.

Scattered photos lose their context as bodywork, mechanical, paint, and trim phases overlap.

Unexplained discoveries create anxiety even when the workshop has the right solution in hand.

For restoration specialists

Professional communication without the constant back-and-forth

Keep owners informed while your team stays focused on the work that makes the car exceptional.

Reduce “any update?” calls

Owners can check the latest verified progress before contacting the project lead.

Make hidden craftsmanship visible

Document corrosion repair, fabrication, wiring, and mechanical work before paint and trim conceal it.

Keep discoveries in context

Connect newly uncovered issues, options, approvals, and consequences to the phase where they matter.

Create a provenance-quality record

Leave the owner with an ordered visual history of the work completed throughout the project.

Simple by design

From intake to the first drive

CustomWorks fits alongside your estimating, parts, scheduling, and workshop systems. It is the client communication layer, not another shop management platform to maintain.

Create the restoration project

Add the vehicle, scope summary, owner contact, and the team members who will publish updates.

Send private owner access

Share a secure project link and PIN. The owner opens it in any browser — no app download required.

Publish progress from the workshop

Add concise updates with photos, videos, phases, discoveries, and important decisions as work moves forward.

Preserve the story at handover

The full owner-facing timeline remains available as a professional record of the restoration journey.

Private by default

Project visibility without exposing internal operations

A valuable classic may carry sensitive ownership, collection, location, and technical information. CustomWorks lets your team control the owner-facing layer separately from internal workflows.

Private link + PIN

Each project has controlled client access. PINs are kept separate from URLs.

Choose what clients see

Internal posts can remain internal; only approved updates appear in the client feed.

Protected media delivery

Workshop photos and videos are served through controlled application routes rather than public storage paths.

Questions

Classic car restoration client portal FAQ

Is CustomWorks a full restoration shop management system?

No. CustomWorks is the client update layer. Your company can keep using its existing estimating, parts, scheduling, invoicing, and workshop systems while publishing selected progress updates in a simple owner-facing feed.

Does the owner need to install an app?

No. Owners open their private project feed in a standard web browser using a link and PIN. The experience works on phones, tablets, and desktop computers.

Can we keep some project posts internal?

Yes. Each post can be excluded from the client feed, so the company team can retain internal updates without exposing them to the client.

What types of updates can we share?

You can share short notes, photos, videos, audio, phase updates, newly discovered work, installation moments, approvals, and important decisions in one chronological project feed.

Can the client receive email updates?

Yes. Once the client email is confirmed, new client-facing posts can trigger email notifications that bring the client back to the project feed.

Can we try it on one live restoration?

Yes. The free plan is designed for one project and one client feed, so you can test the workflow on a real vehicle before expanding it across your workshop.
